This is Me

This is Me - Artist, Heather Moore

For anyone who doesn’t know me, I eat, sleep and drink printmaking. Whatever I do, I do it to the best of my ability and printing is by no means the exception.

Art has always been an important part of my life. At the age of 8 I was already hooked on drawing - a skill that I am still improving. It os a vital part of me transforming ideas in my head into reality. I often start with observational drawings and then ‘doodle’ around the subject until I come to my own version of what I see. Some designs come from direct observation and others are more stylised. It all depends how I feel at the time.

You’ll notice from my logo and collections that I am utterly obsessed with peacocks. I find them fascinating - in particular their feathers a stunning. I’m captivated by the opportunities for pattern making as well as the natural colour palette.

I’m always thinking of ways to develop existing lines and add new ones. Developments might be colour changes, new images or layering papers, washes or inks. I love to experiment. Not all experiments work out but I always learn something from them.

Again, from and early age I’ve been interested in sewing - machine and hand - and creating a series of cosmetics bags and purses allows me to combine my love of printed with my love of stitching and fabrics. My fabric design crush has got to be Matthew Williamson. His bold use of ability to combine images in a pattern blows my mind and inspires me to always go bold.
