Tiny Seascapes – Mini Escapes for Stylish, Dreamy Interiors
Imagine coming home after a high-energy day, slipping off your heels, and letting your mind drift to the gentle rhythm of the waves...
Bringing art into your home isn’t just about decoration—it’s a portal to calm, nostalgia, and escape. My tiny seascape prints are a perfect introduction to collecting art and an easy way to bring a sense of serenity into a stylish space.
The Power of Nostalgic Art in a Stylish Home
You work hard all day bringing your magic to your job so you need to know that when you get home you are entering a space of relaxation and recuperation. Art can evoke cherished memories—perhaps childhood summers by the sea or that one breathtaking trip to the coast. These seascapes act as a snippet of calm - a visual retreat from the demands of work life and never ending jobs lists.
The Art of Small but Mighty Details
There are so many great ways to style these mini artworks. They are perfect for layering in a gallery wall, styling on a desk, or elevating a reading nook.
Styling tips:
Use the ‘rule of 3’ when styling your home spaces - 3 frames, 3 objects (art, book, plant), the shelves - it brings balance
Mix up different sized objects and frames - it gives the eye space to travel and find unexpected details
Not sure what frame to go for? Keep it simple so the art can sing (even better - these mini prints are already framed for you).
Not only are these pieces a great payday treat to yourself but they also make a great thoughtful gift for a fellow powerhouse woman. When they look at that little frame perched on their desk or shelf they’ll smile and think of the awesome friend that knows them so well.
The Making of These Special Prints
Here’s a little peek behind the scenes…
My inspiration
I feel very lucky to live so close to the coast - to have such quick access to natures hypnotically soothing meditation watching the waves ebb and flow. Is there anywhere more relaxing?
It has always fascinated me how different each wave is, how they roll in and the sound of them seems to wash away the stresses of the day.
The Lino print process
These Lino blocks are only 3cm squared and required precise carving so every cut was crucial. The gestural nature of the marks works so well for waves because movement is their main character.
Once carved, I mixed the oil based inks - in the case of ‘Wave’ I mixed a navy and a pale blue that I used to create a tiny blend. This kind of ink blend has to be applied in only one direction and is so effective at creating a sense of light and depth.
Once dried, they are signed. These prints are open editions so they aren’t numbered. Each one is slightly different - pressure, ink application and the surface of the paper all play a part in the way all of the elements come together.
Bringing Your Own Coastal Haven to Life
Dawn is drawn to the sea - it’s her happy place (especially in the North East of England). When she saw my tiny sea prints she fell in love and bought 3 to arrange in her dining room arch.
